The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has shared the project teaser for a solar power project in the Fergana region. A developer is to be selected via the international tender procedure.
The preliminary expected plant capacity is 100 MW depending on the project site to be confirmed at a later stage.
The Fergana project will be the third to be tendered under the Solar Program, mandated by the government of Uzbekistan to the Asian Development Bank to develop photovoltaic stations across Uzbekistan with a total capacity of up to 1 GW.
The first project (“Sherabad Project”) developed under the Solar Program is located in the Sherabad district of Surkhandarya region with a total power capacity of 456.6 MW The project achieved commercial closure in August 2021 with a highly competitive tariff. Following this, the government of Uzbekistan launched the tender process for a second project under the Solar Program, in the Guzar district of Kashkadarya region with a maximum capacity of 300 MW. Request of Qualifications was issued in December 2021 under PPP Law and so far, it has been attracting storing interest from the market.
