Energy Community to assist Georgia with security of energy supply

The Energy Community Secretariat will support the Georgian government in preparing the so-called Risk Preparedness Plan for the country’s electricity sector in line with the new Risk Preparedness Regulation. The Plan will take into account the specific characteristics of the Georgian power system.

The purpose of the assistance is to prevent, prepare for and mitigate a supply crisis ensuring the security of the electricity supply.

Energy Community experts will work in the assistance process closely with the EU Delegation to Georgia, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia (MoESD), the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), the electricity transmission system operator – JSC Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) and the Electricity Market Operator (ESCO).
